Online Therapy in Florida

Therapy over video is not a thinner version of the room. For most of what brings people to us it does the same work, and for some people it does it better. This page is about whether it would suit you, which is a different question from whether it is convenient.

Who it tends to suit

People who cannot reliably defend ninety minutes for a fifty minute appointment. Parents whose evenings belong to somebody else. People whose job does not hold still. When the journey is the thing that makes an appointment fragile, removing the journey is not a compromise, it is the reason the work continues.

It also suits people who find it easier to say something difficult while looking at a screen than across a table. That is common and it is not avoidance. Plenty of people say the first hard sentence from their own sofa and could not have said it anywhere else.

Who it suits less well, said plainly

If there is nowhere in your home where you cannot be overheard, video is harder than travelling, not easier. A car is a workable room, and many people use one, but it is worth knowing that before you book rather than after.

If you are in acute crisis, or if what you are dealing with needs somebody physically present, we will tell you so rather than take the appointment. That judgement is ours to make and we would rather make it early.

What actually happens

Fifty minutes, by video, with the same therapist each time. You are sent a secure link through our client portal. On a computer it opens in your browser. On a phone or tablet you will need the free Telehealth by SimplePractice app, which is the only way our platform supports mobile.

You do not need a good camera, a quiet office or fast internet. You need a door that shuts and roughly an hour.

Where in Florida we can see you

Anywhere in it. A therapist is licensed by state rather than by city, so the question is whether you are in Florida, not whether you are near Windermere. If you would rather come in person, our office is in Windermere.

Anxiety and panic, depression, grief, self esteem, stress, work and career pressure, and couples work. We see adults and young people from age ten upwards.
