Therapy Without Insurance in Orlando
We do not bill insurance. That is a choice rather than an oversight, and if you are paying for therapy directly you are entitled to know what the choice is actually about.
What billing insurance requires
For an insurer to pay, a therapist has to give you a diagnosis. That diagnosis is not a private note between the two of you. It enters your medical record, and the insurer holds it.
The insurer then decides how much care is justified. Not you, and not your therapist. Sometimes that decision is generous and sometimes it arrives as a letter saying the authorised number of sessions has been reached.
None of this is a scandal and plenty of good clinicians work inside it. It is simply somebody outside the room making decisions about what happens inside it.
What paying directly buys
No diagnosis unless one is genuinely useful to you. Nobody outside the room deciding when the work is finished. Nothing about your care sitting in an insurer’s file.
It also means the conversation is between two people rather than three. Some of what people bring to therapy is precisely the kind of thing they do not want recorded anywhere, and for those people this matters more than the money.
What it costs
A fifty minute individual or couples session is $195. That number is on the fees page along with everything else, because you should be able to see a price without filling in a form first.
If the cost is the obstacle
Say so on the call and we will talk about what is workable. It is a normal thing to raise and raising it changes nothing about how you are treated.
What private pay does not mean
It does not mean a premium service for people with money to spare. Most of the people who pay directly are not wealthy; they have looked at what their plan would require of them and decided the trade was not worth it. Paying out of pocket for something a plan would partly cover is a considered decision, not an extravagant one, and we treat it that way.
If you have out of network benefits
Many plans reimburse part of what you pay a therapist outside their network. We can provide the paperwork your insurer needs so you can claim it yourself. That keeps the claim in your hands rather than ours, which is the whole point.
