Telehealth Therapist Serving Central Florida

This page is the practical side of seeing a therapist by video. Not whether it works, which is covered on our online therapy page, but how it actually runs.

Who can be seen, and where

Mental health licences are issued state by state, and a therapist may only work with someone physically located in a state where they hold one. We hold Florida licensure, so we can see you anywhere in Florida on the day of the appointment.

The word that matters there is located. If you live in Ocala and are in Georgia for a fortnight, that fortnight is outside what we can lawfully do. Tell us when you are travelling and we will work around it rather than discover it mid session.

The platform, and what it needs from you

We use SimplePractice. Appointments are reached through our client portal at feelhappy.clientsecure.me.

On a laptop or desktop there is nothing to install. The link opens in your browser and you enter your name to join.

On a phone or tablet it is different, and it is worth knowing before your first appointment rather than during it. Mobile requires the free Telehealth by SimplePractice app from the App Store or Google Play. It is the only supported route on mobile, so downloading it five minutes beforehand is a bad plan.

If the connection fails

It sometimes does. If the video drops and does not come back, we will call you on the number we hold for you and carry on by phone. Nobody sits watching a frozen screen wondering whether to reconnect.

For that to work the number we hold has to be right. It is worth checking that it is.

Safety, and why we ask where you are

At the start of care we will ask for the address you will usually be at during appointments and a person we could contact in an emergency. This is standard for remote care, and the reason is simple: if something happens during a session, we need to be able to send help to a real place.

Records and privacy

The portal is the same one used for scheduling and documents, and sessions are not recorded. Because we are a private pay practice and do not bill insurance, no third party receives a diagnosis or a record of your care. There is more about that on the therapy without insurance page.

Request an appointment and we will send the portal invitation. If you would rather be seen in person, the office is in Windermere.
